According to Jesse Jackson, Apple and it’s industry changing products are hurting the United States unemployment. He makes this statement after he had recently purchased an Ipad and realized that it is destroying the publishing industry, bookstores, newspapers. I wonder what he saw in the Ipad that made him think that the ipad was so powerful. Was it the fact that it really is a very useful product that can help you get access to content in a far superior method than having to drive to your nearest store/newspaper stand?
What made his statement seem really outrageous is the fact that he appeared to be very adamant in his hate for Apple, yet he went ahead and got an Ipad. I wouldn’t be surprised if he also owned an Iphone, Ipod and a Macbook. This guy is clearly very delusional and doesn’t seem to know what he wants.
I think Apple products aren’t destroying jobs, but the technology industry as a whole may be making some jobs obsolete. But isn’t that what technology is for? Technology makes tasks or services much more efficient and with increased efficiency there is less of a need for human labor or job losses.
As for the argument that foreign manufacturing is costing us jobs, there is always an increase in engineering and management jobs in the United States with the growth of US Based technology companies.
